Roman Numerals

For extra authenticity, they should be etched into things instead of just written or drawn.

I think I might need to schedule a trip to the British Museum to look at the letters; I remember reading several letters Roman ladies sent to one another about tedious domestic stuff (fascinating, actually) and NONE of them were etched. Because neither I nor Wikipedia are authoritative enough for this child.

Is it the Vindolanda tablets you are thinking of? I have a book on those somewhere. They seem to be written in ink.
